Mother’s Day

Anyone who knows me, knows that I’ve wanted to be a mom since I was 5 years old. I always said I’d be a pediatrician when I grew up, because I wanted to work with little kids, and then when I actually DID grow up, I realized that’s a whole lot of school, and a whole lot of blood and needles. So.. I became a teacher, because again.. I love kids.

Of course, it isn’t always easy.. but I have to say, I find absolute JOY in being a mom. Everyday I look at Rowan, and seriously can’t even believe he’s mine. I really can’t. It is so much better than I could have ever imagined. And then I look down at my growing (can we say HUGE) belly, and am in awe of this little miracle and in anticipation of meeting our little girl in just 3 months.

Russ took this photo and I just love it. DSC_0085

My favorite little guy in the world!DSC_0035 DSC_0066DSC_0068This year I had the privilege of hosting my own mom, and grandmother for lunch. It was a beautiful, and hot day, so I made a big BBQ chicken salad. For dessert, I made some delicious chocolate coconut pecan bars, and my mom made a homemade rhubarb pie. It was nice to visit and spend the day with these two very important ladies. Rowan loves them both so much. he’s a lucky little guy.DSC_0058I just had to include this photo because now that it’s actually warm enough to go barefoot, Rowan is fascinated by his. He’s always trying to pick something off of them and gets upset when he can’t get it. Guess it means I have to be even more diligent about vacuuming! DSC_0042

Happy Mother’s Day (a bit late, I know… )

Such a Seattle Kid

Okay, I know I posted this picture on FB, but it seriously KILLS me! I just love it because it captures Rowan’s little personality, and this is how he says “cheese.”

I also love that Russ took is on his cell phone and texted me, while he let me SLEEP IN. I think it’s so sweet that they have these outings. Rowan loves drinking milk out of a Starbucks cup, and has even started sitting still for more than 3 minutes!

It’s amazing how much a toddler picks up on.. because now EVERY single time we pass a Starbucks, Rowan yells “COG COG!!!” (coffee) and then cries when I tell him, “ Not right now.” Uh- oh.. he’s already developed a taste for Starbucks.

Marmite

April 2012

Marmite is a New Zealand thing. It’s a thick, dark, yeast spread that Russ can’t get enough of. You can find small jars of it at World Market, for a ridiculous price, but other than that, it’s no where to be found. So.. that means he always requests it if we have NZ visitors, or packages in the mail.

I have to admit… I REALLY don’t like it. I always pride myself in being such an adventurous eater. There’s seriously not much I don’t like, so I was excited to try it. I had some on toast, and literally had to spit it out! It’s just really strong, and salty, and ick…..

So, I thought FOR SURE Rowan wouldn’t like it! Boy was I wrong.. he LOVES it!! Guess it shows that he really is half “kiwi”

Coffee Talk with Grandma

At home we have a pub style tall dining table and chairs, so Rowan was in heaven getting to sit in the big chairs in PA. He loves his little mini mug, and pretends to drink “cog cog” (coffee) out of it all the time. Here he is drinking his morning cog cog with grandma and being quite the chatterbox!

I also took one of Rowan and Russ reading car magazines. Sure wish I knew what Rowan was saying. He’s so funny!

Weekend at the Beach!

It was SOO great to get away for 4 days to my parent’s beach house in Port Angeles. It was our first time taking Rowan, and he loved it! I think one of the biggest treats for me was having my mom cook dinner all 3 nights!! So sweet of her. It was really great to have my mom and Brian around. Rowan loves to spend time with them. He kept saying “Bampa!” for Grandpa and would make a funny noise everytime he saw him…. ever since he saw him using an electric saw, because now he associates that noise with him, lol.

Here is a serious photo bomb of our trip!!

Road Trippin’

2012-04-26 09.25.52Had to make a pit stop in Poulsbo. Rowan still doesn’t love sitting in the car, so we stopped at a huge walmart (shhh..don’t tell anyone, we hate that store!) and let him run around. Russ thought he should have his first arcade game car experience, lol. Not sure who had more fun! 2012-04-26 11.31.01Finally made it! Brian handmade this beautiful stained glass sign. Rowan kept saying “woooww!” and pointing at the ocean. So cute!DSC_0594DSC_0599       DSC_0651 DSC_0654Russ wanted to take a pic of my 23 week belly. Can’t believe how BIG it is already!! DSC_0551Russ and I even managed to sneak a breakfast date in. Mor-Mor and Bampa watched Rowan, and we headed into town. SOOO delish!2012-04-28 09.36.19Poor kid, hahaDSC_0440DSC_0681 DSC_0689 DSC_0690DSC_0451 DSC_0723 DSC_0731  DSC_0749 DSC_0756 Rowan’s first ferry ride from Bainbridge to Seattle. It was really windy up front and he started going bonkers. Definitely an action shot here, hahaDSC_0798 DSC_0832 DSC_0833

Can’t wait to go back again! Hopefully once before baby sister is here, and then again as a family of 4 someday!

Boys!

A couple of my girlfriends, Tyler & Allison brought their ADORABLE boys, Roman and Ezra over for a little playdate. Roman just turned 2, and Ezra will be 2 this month. Rowan wasn’t too sure about either of them at first but they were all pretty cute together. Hard to get one with all 3 smiling but we tried!

DSC_0270  DSC_0272   Here’s Roman doing “Praise Jesus!” Cutest thing ever. I am definitely teaching Rowan that one. Confusing right.. Roman, and Rowan?! lolDSC_0275

Rock Climbing

Last week we had some amazing sunny weather and we wanted to take full advantage of it, so that meant lots of trips to the park. We really love this one place about a 5 minute drive away called ‘Ebright Park.’  Rowan loves going down the big slide, running around, and just watching all the kids in general. He got a kick out of ‘rock climbing’ with dada too!
